For various reasons, I chose to upgrade the drive controls for the engraver using a TB6560 "blue board", and an old laptop that had been running in paperweight mode for several years. I won't share all of the reasons, but the main one is that the software included with my laser was only able to cut raster files. In order to achieve smooth, circular lines, especially for the cutting projects I had in mind, I needed a software that could cut vector files.
Here are a couple images of what the circuit looked before I messed with everything; well, some of the wires are undone so it was taken shortly after I started messing with things.
This is what my setup looks like now, it looks pretty much the same except the board changed color, and the wires are a little less professional looking.
The actual changes are built into the circuit itself, but what I notice is the new Mach3 software to control the laser.
